 Walk-In Classes...

           You can pay for a sitting or you can pay for a kit which includes the sitting ...

     Besides the sitting the kit includes: materials, directions &

                    the things you need to complete your project except the tools.

(Rent the tool kit which includes paper towels and tools for $1 per visit)

You can stay the whole 9 hours if you'd like!

Weekly Classes  are non-refundable and take place once a week for several weeks consecutively. Missed classes may be made up by purchasing an extra sitting. .

 Stained Glass

Students who work well on their own may come Tuesdays

CALL Julie 530.261.5854 if you want a class that will teach you the basics with demonstrations, one-one-one and hands-on.

  • Find how easy it is to cut glass into shapes for Stained Glass or nip glass into tiles and shapes for mosaic
  • Make one, two or three dimensional projects of your choosing with great success in foil or leaded glass methods or learn the mosaic process.
  • Begin by choosing and enlarging a pattern with 10 pieces or less for stained glass
  • Make projects as large or small as you like
  • Use of the basic tools and supplies of the glass trade will come with ease.
  • Create window hangings, windows, ornaments, lamp shades, boxes, mosaics and etched pieces
  • Make copies of JAS patterns (25cents for BW and 50 cents for color) and use the JAS grinder.
  • Rent the glass saw at $10/1/2 hour
  • Bring your own tools/supplies or purchase tools/supplies from Juliart School

                                           Beginning Fusing

For students who work well on their own

Tuesdays 1:00 PM 'til 9:00 PM

6 sittings $45 * Non-members $90

12 sittings $75 * Non-members $150


CALL Julie 530.261.5854 to join a class that will teach you the basics with demonstrations, one-on-one and hands-on. A class on beginning fusing 

covers safety, cutting, nipping. and at least 8 completed projects:  glass for; two 4-inch tiles, one 6-inch tile, a soap dish, several magnets and cabochons using different techniques (frit, stringer, noodles, etc.) including working with fiber board. Tiles can be round or square. Your choice on one full or tack fusing p/project. (1 slumped project is included.) Materials fee: $80 with use of your own tools. 

Don't have your own tools...no problem.

Rent a tool kit for $5/per session.

You will bring or purchase glass in the colors you choose.

You will find how easy it is to learn to cut glass.

You will begin with small pieces and graduate to larger pieces as you

               become familiar with the media.

Use of the basic tools/supplies used in fused glass will come with ease.

Look through our great resource books.  You may peruse them at school

                (we don't check them out) to get ideas, patterns, knowledge and

                inspiration.

Prices for firings are reasonable and listed in the classroom if you do not
                purchase a fusing glass kit.  
Juliart School has some supplies and tools to sell for your convienence, or purchase your own tools and supplies.  Here is what you need besides glass: 
glass cutter, cutting oil (mineral spirits), square-nosed pliers, cutting surface like a hard plastic place mat, soldering surface like a homosote board or piece of sheetrock, wheeled nippers (optional but nice), breakers (optional but nice), rubbing alcohol for cleaning.


Oil or Acrylic Painting Class

Thursday Mornings

Times: 9 am to Noon

Dates: Ongoing. You may join at any time.

Price: $45/6 classes * Non-members $90

This class is exclusive for Painting Students only.

Missed classes can be made up by paying for an

                                                         extra session. 

  • You will add or refine painting/drawing skills
  • You will paint a spectrum color wheel (optional)
  • You will gain an understanding of how to use only 9 tubes of paint to create all the basic vibrant colors along with their complimentary color
  • You will be able to lighten and brighten to achieve vibrancy and will know what colors mute and shade
  • You will appreciate color and shapes and become more aware of things you see every day
  • You will know color mixing
  • You will experience a variety of painting techniques: wet on wet (straight into painting), old masters method (glazing over an under-painting), & complimentary under-painting with wet on wet.
  • We may plan plein aire (outdoor) painting days
  • You will see teacher demonstrations you can follow
  • You are free and encouraged to paint your own ideas.

Plein Air Water Color Journaling

Tuesdays

Times: 9-Noon

Dates: Ongoing. You may join at any time.

Price: $45/6 Classes * Non-Members $90 


  • Plein Air is outdoors on location
  • You will paint over water insolvable ink drawings for the most part
  • Class is designed to add to or refine drawing and painting skills
  • The sketches and paintings are often quickly made catching the essence of the memory with deeply satisfying results
  • You will journal pictures of experiences, findings, happenings and written thoughts, feelings, memories, how-to notes or things you heard
  •  If the weather turns rainy we will have studio/classroom time, painting from photographs or memory
  • You will experience hands on learning in a fun and creative environment with lots of demonstrations.

Private Classes

Private 3/hour classes by appointment at $150. No membership required. This personal attention allows you to progress with techniques tailored for you, at your speed and in the medium you prefer.

You are responsible for materials.

1-3 intensive training days to add to or refine skills you already have.

FREEZE 'N FUSE  (Make a mold, Fill with frit, freeze and fuse. Fantastic Results!)

SILVER METAL CLAY

Times: 9-4:30 pm each day (15 hrs)

RELIEF PAINTING (Materials to make 1- 16x20, including surface)

FRITTERING TIME VITROFUSION (You will frit paint a candle shade and a 2-inch necklace using 2 different frit and water techniques with awesome results. Tack and slump firings included.)
